These are a very large breed thought to be developed in the US in the late 1840s. Probably the largest breed of chicken, (larger than the buff orpington) an extremely gentle bird with feathered feet, non flier, ideal for children - see also our Chartley Buffs.
Confinement is not a problem, they wont wander very far even given the opportunity. They lay around 150 medium sized eggs per year. Slow maturing laying from approx 40-50 weeks old. They are extremely docile and placid, ideal for the larger garden. These are bred from Show Winning stock. Carry boxes inclusive of prices.
