Collection: Poultry Treats

To keep your flock healthy, ensure 90% of their daily food comes from a complete layer feed, leaving just 10% (or less) for treats. It is best to give treats in the evening after the chickens have already filled up on their nutrient-dense main feed.

When spoiling your flock, divide your options into safe, commercial or fresh snacks and strictly toxic hazards:

  • Protein & Calcium Boosters: Dried calci worms, and specialized pecker blocks. These are excellent during the autumn moulting season when chickens need extra protein to grow new feathers.
  • Note for UK keepers: Under UK law (APHA), it is illegal to feed chickens any food scraps that have passed through a domestic kitchen due to cross-contamination risks. Fresh veggies must be taken straight from the garden or shop to the run.
