🏠 Coops/Housing

Poultry Houses, chicken coops for large and bantam sized birds.  We recommend quality plastic Nestera or HPL manufactured EasiCoops for cleanliness and freedom from red mites.

  • Wooden? - life 5-10 years, lots of maintenance, mite risk v high.
  • Plastic: life 20+ years, no maintenance, mite risk v low.
  • DEFRA recommend - a hen house inside a walk in run.

Sizing

We size based on 20cm of perch space per medium sized bird(hybrid) and 1sqft of internal area (not including nesting area) per bird.  Where the two calculations differ we quote the lower and upper.  Eg. Nestera Aspen 10, 1sqft/bird =10, perching space is 315cm=13, so 10-13 birds.

For comparison Omlet Cube 5sqft=5, Go & Go Up 3 sqft=3.  (No perches in omlet coops)

Please note any coops sold as pre-assembled may visibly look weathered.
