We wanted a durable plastic coop to avoid mites and reduced maintenance demands. This coop has been in use now for 3 months and is very good. It took us about 90 minutes to fully put up. It fits our 4 hens well and could probably get 1 or 2 more hens in. It took them a while to suss out the nest box but now they like it. It seems warm enough for them this winter, especially in a run with tarps around It. We use the automatic door too which works great but doesn't fully open - but the girls can fit under It. It is quite difficult to clean out the bedding but we only do a deep clean once a month so this hasn't been a problem. The only issue we had was that one roosting bar cracked during construction - we can still use it but if we take it out it will probably break in half. Overall a good coop at a fair price compared to others on the market.

Easy to assemble and delivered quickly
Great coop, really helpful that I could use my existing chicken coop timer for opening the door rather than needing to buy this along with the new coop. Also much better than wood for the mite situation that was out of control in my wooden coop.

Perfect
Having been a chicken keeper for many years and had nearly every type of coop (the famous expensive plastic ones, pretty wooden ones) This is by far the best coop we ve had. It s so easy to clean. This is the first Coop we ve had where the girls property roost rather than sleep in the nest box; the nest box therefore remains clean. The automatic door opener is easy to programme and fit. I was concerned about it s looks but it actually sits nicely in the garden. The only consideration with this model is taking the roof off for egg collection. I m not sure my elderly mother will be able to lift it off or have long enough arms to reach in. So bare this in mind if you have small children (could also be a plus) with this model. Looking at the design and construction I m hoping this will be more effective at not providing hiding places for the dreaded red mite but can t comment currently. Chartley Coops were brilliant. I thoroughly recommend them and this coop.
